Origin Access: is the subscription worth it?
With Origin Access, the equivalent of EA Access was finally brought from Xbox One to PC in 2016. In this practical tip, we will tell you whether the subscription is worth it at all.
What does Origin Access offer?
- Origin Access works the same way as EA Access. The monthly subscription primarily gives you access to the Vault games. It is a growing collection of games that you can play for free for the duration of your subscription.
- In addition, you can play new EA titles a few days before the release in the "Play First Trials" category. You can fully download, install, and play the games for a limited time. For the official release, you can then buy such an EA title and continue playing where you left off.
- In addition, Origin Access gives you 10 percent of all purchases made through Origin. This includes not only complete games, but also extensions and, for example, FIFA Points.
Origin Access: is the subscription worth it?
- Origin Access will cost you $ 3.99 a month. The service therefore costs EUR 47.88 a year. Whether the subscription is worthwhile for you depends heavily on your usage behavior.
- There are many old and reasonably priced titles in the Vault games. But top-class players such as Star Wars Battlefront, FIFA 16 and Battlefiled Hardline also ended up in the Vault around a year after their release. When Battlefield Hardline appeared in the Vault, the purchase price was still 69.99 euros. Origin Access would have been worth it here.
- If you play quite irregularly, you can simply cancel the subscription and resume it at a later date. Your saves of the Vault games remain saved.
