Origin update error - you can do that
If Origin shows an update error while updating games or starting the software, there is often a serious problem. We'll show you how to solve it.
Fix update error in Origin
If Origin reports "The update could not be completed", it is an error for which no general solution is known. Unfortunately, no one can guarantee success here.
- First download the latest version of Origin and start the installation. The program is only updated, your data is retained.
- Now restart your computer completely and disconnect your router from the power for a few seconds. These two measures can also lead to success.
- If that doesn't help either, you should completely reinstall Origin. You should save personal saves externally beforehand. Instructions for uninstallation can be found in the following paragraph.
Origin: Troubleshoot update errors by uninstalling
Note: To remove the last remains of Origin, we recommend a small free tool that does not require installation. If you use Windows to uninstall, this may not lead to the desired success.
- First download the free GeekUninstaller and start the program.
- Look for the entry "Origin" in the list and select it with a double click.
- Follow the further instructions until the program has been uninstalled.
- Then remains of Origin are searched. Confirm the deletion.
- Now download Origin again and start the installation.
- Tip: If possible, install Origin on a different hard drive or at least in a different folder than specified.
