Origin: Download slow - it may be because of it
For various reasons, a download via Origin can be remarkably slow. We will show you what this can be and what you can do about it.
Slow download from Origin: you can do that
- First, check if your internet is working properly. With a WLAN connection, you should ensure that the transmitter is close enough to the receiver. In addition, follow the instructions in this practical tip and, if possible, use a LAN cable instead of wireless internet.
- Run a speed test to see if you have faster internet than the Origin download suggests.
- Close all programs that you don't need right now. This is especially true for tools that access the Internet and may use up your bandwidth. These include, for example, browsers or streaming software.
- Make sure you have the latest version of Origin installed on your PC. You can find these for free download from CHIP Online.
- Also check that you have downloaded and properly installed all Windows updates.
- Cancel the download, restart your PC and download the Origin files again. In many cases the download works as usual.
- Occasionally, the EA server and thus the Origin server may malfunction. You can find out how to check this in a separate practical tip.
