OS X: Edit user dictionary - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to edit the user dictionary on Mac OS X. Use autocorrection to create practical templates.
How to edit the user dictionary on Mac OS X.
If you would like to automatically complete certain letter combinations to whole words, you will learn in the following steps how to configure the user dictionary.
- Tap the Apple icon in your menu bar and select "System Preferences ...".
- Opt for the icon with the caption "Keyboard".
- Navigate to the "Text" tab.
- Now click on the plus to enter the abbreviation or the word to be replaced in the left column. Note that it cannot contain spaces.
- Enter the appropriate term in the right column (see picture).
- Once you have edited your user dictionary, your auto-correction completes the terms.

- If you would like to remove a pairing, select it and click on the minus button.
