You open your documents under OS X with a specific app of your choice. So you can use alternative programs and do not always have to use the same app to edit your documents. In our guide you will find out how it works.
Open documents under OS X via app
You can use the following steps to open documents on OS X with a specific app.
- Right-click on a document of your choice.
- Then select "Open with" in the context menu and see various apps on the left side that are available for selection.
- First, the standard app for opening the respective document type is displayed. Then there are other programs that can also display the document. You can also search for other apps on your computer by clicking on "Other program" and search for suitable applications in the App Store via "App Store".
- After selecting the desired app, the document is displayed.
