OS X Mavericks: Limit the number of administrators
We show you how you can limit the number of administrators under OS X Mavericks.
Administrators on OS X Mavericks - they have these rights
As an administrator, you have all rights to make settings on your Mac. It allows you to create and manage users, install apps, and change settings. Therefore, make sure that you have deactivated the automatic login for the administrator. This is also the reason why you should limit and keep the number of administrators as clear as possible.
Manage users - add and delete administrators
Thanks to the very good user administration of OS X Mavericks, it is easy to appoint a user as administrator, or to demote him. You can make these settings directly when you create a user, but you can also change them later.
- Open your Mac's System Preferences.
- Select the category Users & Groups. The configured users can be seen in the list on the left.
- If you create a new user with the plus sign, you can define him as "Administrator" or as "Standard", which would not give him administrator rights.
- In retrospect, you can activate or deactivate the checkmark to define or remove the respective user as administrator.
