OS X Mavericks: Set up screen sharing
Screen sharing on OS X Mavericks lets others control your Mac and see your screen. You can find out how to activate screen sharing in the following practical tip.
Share the screen with other people under Mavericks
If you want to allow other people to access your Mac, you can find various sharing options for your Mac in the system settings. For example, other users can move files around on your Mac.
- Click on the Apple logo in the top left of the system bar and then click on "System Preferences ...".
- Here you select the menu item "Releases". In the next window, press the lock symbol at the bottom left and enter your administrator password here.
- Now select "Screen sharing" on the left and check the box (see picture).
- Under "Computer Settings" you can now, for example, set a password for the VNC viewer. You can also grant access rights to people who don't have a user account on your Mac. To do this, click "Anyone can request screen control approval".
- You also determine which users have access to your computer. After making the changes, press the lock icon again and complete the screen sharing.
