OS X Mavericks: Screen saver does not start
If the screensaver does not start in OS X Mavericks, you should check some system settings. You can find out what these are and how to solve the problem in our article.
Reactivate screensavers on OS X Mavericks
First, you should check that the screen saver and hibernation settings are configured correctly:
- Click on the system settings in your dock and open the item "Desktop & screensavers". Under the tab "Screensaver" you can determine the timer for the display of the screensaver. Adjust this to the desired time.
- Another reason can be the energy saving settings: If the timer is set shorter here, your Mac will be put into sleep mode before the screen saver is activated. Therefore, in the Dock, press "System Settings"> "Save Energy" and control the timer for the idle state here. In any case, set a longer time than with your screensaver.
- Also make sure that the brightness of your screen is not too low. The picture may be too dark and you may not be able to recognize the elements of your screen saver. You can adjust the brightness with the [F1] and [F2] keys.
