OS X Mavericks: Manually configure the date and time
In Mac OS X Mavericks, you can manually configure the date and time and disable the automatic time setting for your region. There are also other extras - for example, a reading function for the time. In our practical tip you will learn how it all works.
Manually set the time and date on Mac
- Open the system settings via the dock.
- Then click on "Date & Time".
- Now you see the menu for the date and time display. If necessary, first click on the lock symbol at the bottom left and enter your administrator password to be able to make changes.
- If you want to deactivate the automatic configuration for the time and date, remove the check mark next to "Set date and time automatically" (see image). You can then enter the time yourself by clicking on the arrow keys next to the time. You can change the date by clicking on the respective month or day. Then select "Set".
- Under the "Time zone" tab, select whether the time zone should be set automatically based on your location.
- For further settings such as the automatic reading of the time, the clock display or options for the date display, click on the "Clock" tab.
