OS X Mavericks: Customize the Finder window - Here's how
On OS X Mavericks, you can customize your Finder windows. This is how you design the sidebar according to your personal taste and furnish the background of the windows with colors or photos.
OS X Mavericks: Customize the sidebar of the Finder window
The sidebar in Finder can be equipped with useful elements such as folders and device links:
- Start the Finder by clicking the icon in your dock.
- Then click on "Finder" in the Apple toolbar and then on "Settings ...".
- Here you select the "Sidebar" tab.
- You will now see various elements. Check the boxes and determine whether the "Downloads" folder or hard drives should be displayed in the sidebar, for example.
Change the background of the Finder window
You can also customize the background of your Finder windows. You can find the menu on the Apple toolbar as follows:
- Open your Finder again and click on "View"> "As symbols".
- Now select "Representations" again and then click on "Show Representation Options".
- Below you will find three different options: You can choose the background of your Finder in white, color or with a photo.
