OS X Mavericks: Delete protected files
With OS X Mavericks you can remove even protected objects with a little trick. Our practical tip tells you how to do this.
Remove protected files under Mavericks
First of all, you have to unprotect the objects. You can then move the object to your trash as usual and delete it:
- Click on the object and select "File" in the Apple system bar and then "Information".
- In the "General" section, remove the check mark in the box next to "Protected" to deactivate the protection of the object. In some cases, you can only do this as an administrator. To do this, click on the lock symbol and then enter your administrator name and password.
- Then close the "Information" window and drag and drop the file into your trash as usual.
- Finally, right-click on your trash and select the "Empty trash" option. The protected object is now successfully deleted.
