OS X Mavericks: How to import mailboxes into mail
If you want to import mailboxes into mail under OS X Mavericks, there is a special function for this. Select the app you are using from a selection of email programs and then start the import. In our practical tip you will learn how to do it.
Import mailboxes into mail under OS X Mavericks
- Start "Mail" in your dock.
- In the system bar at the top next to the Apple logo, select "File" and then "Import mailboxes ...".
- Now you can select an email program from which mailboxes are to be imported (see picture).
- After your selection, follow the further instructions on the screen.
- The email app from which mailboxes are to be imported must still be active for the import process to work.
- You should select the "Files in mbox format" option if you want to import mailboxes from UNIX or Windows computers.
- After the successful import you will find the emails in Mail under "Imported". If this folder does not automatically appear on the left side, press the "Show" field, which is next to the "Inbox" option at the top of the Mail tab menu.
