OS X Mavericks: change name and password
Under OS X Mavericks you can change your username and password at any time. However, the administrator password is required for this. Our practical tip tells you exactly how to do this.
Change name and password under OS X Mavericks
You can easily change your user name in OS X Mavericks in the system settings. The new name then appears, for example, when you log in and elsewhere in OS X Mavericks.
- Start the system settings in your dock.
- Select the "Users & Groups" item.
- The user administration opens. Click the lock icon in the lower left and then enter your administrator password to change your name and password.
- Now you can click on your name line and enter a new name.
- If you also want to change your password, select the "Change password" option. Here you have to enter your old password and then configure a new one.
