With OS X Mavericks, you can create password-protected notes that can only be opened with your password. Our practical tip shows you how to protect your information on Mac.
Protect notes with a password
You save important information in a note that is password-protected against unauthorized access. For this you have to work with the keychain administration.
- Open Keychain Access. To do this, enter the keyword "Keychain Access" in the Spotlight search and then select the first hit. Alternatively, you can find Keychain Access in the Utilities folder.
- In the system tray next to the Apple logo, click on "File" and then on "New secure note ...".
- Now enter a name for your secure note. Write your text in the input field, which is then protected with your password.
- You can now select the note in Keychain Access at any time. Click on the note and check the box next to "Show text" (see picture). Now you have to enter your user password to read the content of your note.
