OS X Mavericks: Automatically replace text - how it works
OS X Mavericks can automatically replace certain words in text boxes with others. You simply determine the abbreviations and the respective replacement words in the system settings.
Automatic replacement of text input
- Open the "System Preferences" in your Dock.
- Then select the "Keyboard" menu item and switch to the "Text" tab.
- On the left side you see a table for the replacement function (see picture). The short form is shown on the left and the replacement on the right.
- Click on the respective field on the left half of the table to add new abbreviations. For example, the entry "adw" automatically becomes "On the way!".
- Once you have made your entries, you only have to close the window and the settings made are activated.
