OS X: Set folder for screenshots
In MacOS X you can set a folder for your screenshots. By default, these are saved on the desktop. With a special command you set up a folder for your screenshots. We'll explain how it works.
Create screenshot folder on MacOS X.
Your screenshots are saved on your desk. This quickly creates a confusing desktop. Find a suitable path for your screenshot folder.
- First, create a new folder anywhere on your Mac computer. Right-click on your desktop or in a subfolder and then select "New Folder". Then specify a name.
- Next, enter the keyword "Terminal" in the Spotlight search and select the first hit. Alternatively, you can find this program in the "Utilities" folder.
- Now enter the following command in the terminal without quotation marks: "defaults write com.apple.screencapture location / Users / your user name / location / folder name; killall SystemUIServer". Enter your user name and the location and name of your screenshot folder in the correct place.
- Tip: Instead of having to manually type in the path of the folder, you can simply drag the desired folder into the terminal at the right place in the command. The subsequent "killall SystemUIServer" command can also be executed separately.
