OS X: Change symbols for the status display in messages

Mac OS X: Change icons for messages
The popular chat program "Messages" can display colored symbols for the status of your contacts. You have to activate this function in the settings as follows:
- Start Messages by typing the keyword "Messages" in the Spotlight search in the top right. Here you select the first hit.
- Now click on "Messages" in the Apple system bar and then select the "Settings" item.
- Under the "General" tab you will now find the option "Use symbols for status display". Place a check in the box here.
