There are several ways to install Java in OS X Yosemite. After installing OS X Yosemite, the old Java version no longer works. How to solve the problem:
Install Java on OS X Yosemite
There are two different ways to get Java running on OS X Yosemite. For one thing, you can simply install an older version of Apple's Java.
- To do this, start your web browser.
- Go to the following Apple website.
- Now click "Download" to download Java for Yosemite.
- Then you only have to install the loaded file.
Install the latest Java 8 version
With a little trick in the terminal of OS X Yosemite you download a newer Java version. Please note the following steps:
- Click the search icon at the top right of the clock to start Spotlight search.
- Now enter the keyword "Terminal" and then choose the first top hit.
- Next you have to enter the following command in the terminal: "java -version"
- After confirming your entry, a message appears. Click here on "More information ...".
- You will now be directed to the Oracle website and can download the Java 8 installer here.
