Opening times at Easter - you should note that
If you want to shop for Easter, you should note the following information:
- Good Friday falls on April 19 this year. and is considered a general holiday in Germany. Accordingly, all stores are closed.
- On Easter Saturday (also called Holy Saturday), April 20, all shops are open as usual.
- Easter Sunday, April 21st, is a public holiday and all shops are closed accordingly.
- Also on Easter Monday, April 22nd, all shops are closed due to the nationwide holiday.
- Smaller shops, such as food stalls, flower shops or petrol stations, can also be open individually on public holidays. There is no Germany-wide regulation here, so it is best to get information directly from the shops.
- From Tuesday, April 23rd, all shops are open again.
- Note that shops in main train stations or airports may still be open on both days. That varies from city to city, so it's best to find out more on site.
