Outlook 2007: Export accounts
If you switch to a new computer or operating system, you can export your accounts under Outlook 2007 so that you can load them back into the program later. We'll show you how it's done.
Export account to Outlook 2007
To back up your complete account, i.e. all data directly related to your email address, you just have to copy a file from the directory.
- Open Windows Explorer by pressing the [Windows] key and [E] at the same time.
- Enter the following path in the navigation bar at the top: "C: \ Users \ XXX \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Outlook". For "XXX" you have to use your own username.
- Here you will find the "Outlook.pst" file, which can be several hundred MB in size. It stores everything that has to do with your account, such as the emails in your inbox.
Outlook 2007: Save settings
You can also save the settings that you made directly in Outlook.
- Close Outlook and simultaneously press the [Windows] key and [R] on your keyboard.
- The "Execute" command opens by entering "regedit" and clicking the "OK" button.
- The registry editor now starts in a new window. Navigate to the following path on the left: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Windows Messaging Subsystem \ Profiles \ Outlook".
- There you will find the folder named "9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676". Right click on the folder and select "Export".
- Enter a location and a name for the file and click the "Save" button.
- To import the data again, simply double-click on the file. All settings saved in it are then adopted in Outlook.
Export parts of the account to Outlook
You can also only export individual areas such as your inbox, calendar or contacts. This way you only save the content that you really need later.
- In this practical tip, we explain how you can only save the contacts within a file, for example.
