Outlook 2013: Sync IMAP accounts
In Outlook 2013, many users seem to have problems setting up the synchronization of their IMAP accounts. Among other things, each folder must be clicked individually so that it is synchronized. Not only is this tedious, but emails can also be lost if you don't remember to manually sync the folders.
Open email account in Outlook
Before you can set up the synchronization, you must first open your email account in Outlook. To do this, proceed as follows.
- Click the "File" tab in the top left.
- In the next view, select "Add account" on the right side.
- Fill out the wizard completely and confirm by clicking on "continue". Outlook will now automatically set up your account.
Automatically sync IMAP folders
Use the instructions below to automatically sync your IMAP account.
- First click on the "SEND / RECEIVE" tab in the ribbon.
- Then open the "Send-receive groups" dropdown bar.
- Now select the item "Define Send-Receive Groups ...".
- In the next window, click "New ..." and give the group the name "IMAP-Sync".
- Select your IMAP account in the left bar.
- Make sure that the item "Include account in this group" is marked on the right side.
- Then activate the item "Apply the custom behavior defined below". Now you can select all the folders you want to synchronize (example: see graphic). Repeat steps 5-7 for each additional IMAP account.
- Confirm your selection by clicking "OK".
- In the lower section of the window you can specify how often you want to check for new mails.
