Outlook: Retrofit view for "Unread messages"
You want a special view for your work with Outlook that shows you only unread messages in a folder. This way you do not run the risk of missing an unread email. Although Outlook 2010 does not provide such a view by default, you can upgrade it in seven steps.
Create "Unread Mails" view in Outlook
- To do this, switch to the message module by clicking on »E-Mail« in the left window area of Outlook.
- Then activate the "View" tab and click on "Change view" and "Manage views ...".
- Then click on "New ..." in the following dialog, enter "Unread" under "Name of the new view", for example, and select "Table" as the "View type".
- Also activate the option "All folders of type" E-Mail and Deployment "". Confirm these settings with »OK«.
- In the »Advanced View Settings« dialog, select »Filter ...«.
- In the following dialog, activate the "Only such elements" filter on the "More options" tab. Select the entry »Unread« in the combo box to the right.
- Then close all open dialogs with »OK«. In future, you can use the "Change view" command on the "View" tab on the ribbon of a message folder to activate the "Unread" view.
