Outlook: Automatic email copy to your own address
For organizational reasons, it can make sense to have a copy of sent emails sent to your own address in Outlook. It simply works as a CarbonCopy (Cc). This practical tip shows you how to set up this automatic forwarding in Outlook.
Have the Cc email copy sent to your own address
- Open Microsoft Outlook and click on "File" in the top left corner.
- If you use several email addresses in Outlook, first select the corresponding account under the heading "Account information" - that is, the address whose sent emails are to be automatically forwarded.
- Now go to the button "Manage rules and notifications".
- In the new window, click on "New rule ...". Here you will find a list of pre-formulated rules that you can activate for your email account.
- Click "Apply rule to messages sent by me" (at the bottom of the list) and click "Next".
- Do not mark anything in the next window, but go to "Next" again and confirm the query window with "Yes".
- Now mark the "Copy this to a person / public group (CC)" (second entry from below).
- In the "2nd step" field, click on the blue text "one person / public group".
- Enter in the text field below "To ->" all addresses to which the automatic Cc forwarding should be set up. Of course, this can only be your own address.
- Click "Finish" and "OK" in the previous window. Forwarding is then set up.
Forward blind copy automatically with Bcc
With the so-called "Blind Carbon Copy", or "Bcc" for short, you can set up hidden forwarding to your own address. The recipient does not notice anything. The setup in Outlook is a bit more complicated for this option and not easy to select in the settings. We will therefore explain the exact procedure to you in your own practical tip.
This guide applies to Microsoft Outlook 2010 on Windows 8.1 Pro. The process can vary slightly in older versions of Outlook.
