Outlook: save rail connection in calendar
Train connections researched on bahn.de can be easily imported as an appointment into your Outlook calendar. That's how it's done.
Import train connection as calendar file in Outlook
Using an additional function on the Bahn website, you can load the data of the selected connection directly into the Outlook calendar or save it as a file.
- First open //www.bahn.de and research the desired connection. In the selection, click on the white-red arrow in front of the relevant connection to display the details. There, follow the link "Enter in calendar" (see picture).
- In the next dialog, click »Download« to save the connection data as an ICS calendar file.
- Now you can directly select the "Open with" option. In addition, Microsoft Outlook is probably already set or you choose this setting. After clicking on "OK", the data is integrated in Outlook as an additional "BAHN_Fahrplan" calendar.
- It is more flexible to select the "Save file" option in the download dialog and to first save the ICS file on the hard disk. This is basically also available to other calendars such as Sunbird or Google's calendar.
Integrate rail calendars into standard calendars
In Outlook you can integrate the data into the existing standard calendar.
- To do this, open the command »File | Open "and click on" Import "or use the command" File | in earlier versions of Outlook Import / Export ".
- Then select the action »Import iCalendar (ICS) or vCalendar file (VCS)« and click on »Next«.
- Navigate to the downloaded ICS file and confirm the selection with »OK«. Now you can decide whether you want to open the file "Open as new calendar" or "Import". The individual connections are then entered as appointments in the calendar.
