When Windows starts, programs such as Outlook can be started automatically. While this takes longer to boot up your computer, it helps automate workflows. We want to show you how to do this using a PC with Windows 7.
Store Outlook shortcut in autostart
With Windows there is a very simple solution for you to let programs load when the system starts: the autostart. If you have a shortcut from Outlook on your desktop, it is very quick.
- Drag and drop the left mouse button on the shortcut and drag the shortcut to your Windows Start button.
- Go to "All Programs".
- There you will find the "Autostart" folder. Release the mouse button over the folder icon.
The next time the system is started, Outlook will start automatically. If you want to keep your symbol on the desktop, hold down the "Ctrl" key before releasing it. This causes you to copy Outlook to the folder and not move it.
Outlook at system start without desktop shortcut
If you don't have an Outlook shortcut on your desktop, do the following:
- Go to "Start / All Programs" in the "Microsoft Office" folder.
- A link from Outlook was automatically stored there during the installation. Here, too, you can drag and drop the file into the Autostart folder. In this step, you should definitely hold down the "Ctrl" key so that you only copy Outlook.
You can also proceed as described for older versions of Windows. By the way: This tip is applicable to any software that you have installed on your PC.
