Outlook: Send blind copy (BCC) to me by default
In Outlook, you can automatically have a blind copy (BCC) of every email you send sent to yourself without the recipient noticing. You can read about how to set up the function in this article.
1. Set up automatic BCC forwarding
First you have to activate the so-called developer tools in Microsoft Outlook (shortcut [Alt] + [F11]). The blind carbon cop function (BCC) is not immediately available in Outlook. You can therefore only use a so-called macro:
- In the tab bar, go to "Developer"> "Visual Basic". A new window will then open.
- Then open "Project1 (VbaProjekt.OTM)"> "Microsoft Outlook Objects" in the navigation bar and double-click on "ThisOutlookSession".
- Copy the following code contiguously into the large text field:
- Private Sub Application_ItemSend (ByVal Item As Object, Cancel As Boolean)
- Dim objMe As Recipient
- Set objMe = Item.Recipients.Add (" ")
- objMe.Type = olBCC
- objMe.Resolve
- Set objMe = Nothing
- End Sub
- In the text above, replace " " with your own email address (the quotation marks must not be removed).
- Then save the macro and close the window.
2. Accept macros in Outlook
Macros you create yourself are not automatically integrated into Outlook for security reasons. Therefore, proceed as follows:
- Open "Macro Security" in the "Developer Tools"
- Under "Settings for macros" select "Notifications for all macros" and confirm with "OK". Automatic BCC forwarding is now set up.
These instructions refer to Microsoft Outlook 2010 under Windows 8. This practical tip shows you how to permanently show the BCC field for new messages.
