If Outlook blocks an attachment, you cannot easily release the file. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Outlook: Allow blocked attachments
For security reasons, some attachments are blocked directly. However, you can allow certain types of files to be received temporarily or permanently. First, close Outlook if the program is open.
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "regedit" here and confirm with "OK". Then the registry editor starts.
- Now open the following path on the left: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 15.0 \ Outlook \ Security". The version number 15.0 given here stands for Outlook 2015, with older versions you will find another number.
- When you have reached the last "Security" folder, right-click on an empty area on the right. Select the "String" under "New".
- Name the string with the name "Level1Remove" and open it with a double click.
- In the "Value" column you can now enter all file types that Outlook should not block. To release ZIP and EXE files, write ".exe; .zip".
- Close the window with "OK" and exit the registry editor. You may have to restart Windows.
- If you then start Outlook, the desired file type is no longer blocked. If you wish, you can delete the string again for security reasons.
