Set up Outlook.com on Android without an app
You do not necessarily need the outlook.com app to set up your outlook.com account on your Android smartphone. You can configure the standard email client of your mobile phone with the corresponding data.
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account
With outlook.com you not only synchronize your emails, but also contacts and appointments. If you don't want to use the associated app, set up an Exchange account.
- Open your email app on your smartphone and add a "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account".
- Enter your entire Outlook address as the "user name" and your normal password as the "password".
- The server address is: "s.outlook.com". But it also works "m.outlook.com"
- Leave the "Domain" field blank and tick "The server requires an encrypted SSL connection"
- After clicking on "Next" you can set which data should be synchronized.
Checking the emails via POP3
If you do not want to synchronize contacts or appointments, just send an email with the Pop3 protocol.
- Add a new "Pop3 / Imap" account.
- Enter your entire Outlook address as "User name" and your normal password as "Password".
- The incoming mail server is: "pop3.live.com". Select "SSL" as the security type. The port should automatically be set to "995", otherwise type it in manually.
- The outgoing mail server is: "smtp.live.com". Here you choose as a "TLS" encryption. The port is "25".
The instructions also apply to "live.de", "live.com" and "hotmail.com".
