Outlook: encrypt emails with "Gpg4Win"
Thanks to the freeware "Gpg4Win" you can encrypt your emails with the PGP method.
- Download "Gpg4Win" and install the software.
- After successful installation, open the "Kleopatra" program.
- Select "File" and then "New Certificate".
- Click on "Create personal OpenPGP key pair".
- Enter your details and then click "Next".
- Your data will now be displayed again for checking. If these are correct, click on "Generate key".
- Now enter your personal passphrase. It should be easy to remember, but still difficult to crack. To avoid typing errors, you must enter the passphrase twice. Confirm with a click on "OK".
- Your personal key is now generated. You can support the generation by entering any text in the input field or moving the window back and forth with the mouse.
- Once the key has been successfully created, you can copy it to the PC, send it by email or send it to the certificate server.
- To complete the wizard, click "Finish".
Encrypt emails from now on - so it'll work
Before you can send an encrypted email, you need the certificate from the sender:
- Contact the recipient of the email for their public certificate.
- Once you have received the certificate, open "Cleopatra".
- Click here on "Import certificate" and upload the certificate file.
- Then confirm with "Ok".
- Now you can compose your email as usual. Click on the small lock in the top right to encrypt your emails. Then send the email.
