Set up Outlook with a T-Online account
You can also access the emails from your T-Online address with Outlook if you set up the program accordingly. In this tip, you will read step by step how to set up the T-Online account in Outlook 2010.
Retrieve T-Online with Outlook 2010
- Open Outlook and click on "File" and "Add Account".
- A wizard window appears in which you select the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" option and click "Next" twice.
E-mail retrieval via the Pop3 protocol
- Your name: Desired sender name
- Email address: Your full email address
- Incoming server: securepop.t-online.de
- Outgoing mail server: securesmtp.t-online.de
- Username: your email address
- Password: The password of your mail account. Place a checkmark next to "Save password" so that you do not have to enter the password every time.
- Make sure that the login option "with secure password authentication" is not activated.
After clicking on "Further Settings" another window opens.
- Select the tab "Outgoing mail server" and activate the option "The outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authentication".
- Switch to the "Advanced" tab and check "Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)".
- Select "SSL" in the drop-down menu of the outgoing mail server.
- The port of the incoming mail server (POP3) should be 995 and that of the outgoing server (SMTP) 25 or 587. If not, simply type in the numbers.
T-Online: Retrieve emails via IMAP
If you want to use IMAP instead of the POP3 protocol, follow the same procedure as above. You only need to change the following:
- Incoming server: secureimap.t-online.de
- Inbox port: 993
Note: The instructions refer to Microsoft Outlook 2010. The procedure may differ in other versions.
