Outlook Express: Fix error 0x800ccc79 relaying denied
When sending emails in Outlook Express, the error message "0x800ccc79 relaying denied" can occur. This means that the server cannot forward emails that come from other servers. How to solve the problem.
Check Outlook email address
You have to make sure that your sender address is from the provider you use. This means that if you are with the provider "Test-Mail", the sender address should also end in "@ test-mail.de". Otherwise, the server cannot send this mail.
Sign up for SMTP in Outlook Express
If it is not your address, the problem could be as follows: Many providers want you to register with the SMTP server. To sign up for SMTP sending in Outlook, follow the next steps:
- Open "Tools" and there "Accounts".
- Click on your account and then on "Properties".
- Select "Server" and check "Server requires authentication".
- Then click on the settings and select "Login with". Enter your registration details there.
Remove secure connection
Another possible cause of the error message is that Outlook uses encryption that is not supported by the provider. To remove this encryption, proceed as follows:
- Follow the first two steps from above. Then select the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" option under the "Advanced" tab. You should now be able to send your emails without any problems.
