Outlook: Search for a company in the address book
If you use the address book in Outlook for work, it often makes sense to find contacts about the company where they are stored. It's hard to remember every single name of a company's contact person.
Sort Outlook contacts by company
As of Office 2007, you can not only search for terms in the name field. Outlook also offers a "Company" column by which you can sort by clicking on the option in the "Current view" (see image):
- To do this, first click on your address book. You can find this under Contacts.
- In the menu on the left you will see the section "Current view". Here you tick the box "Company".
- You can then sort the list alphabetically by clicking on the tab in the table.
Find company contacts using the search bar
We also recommend using the search function in the standard menu bar. This is probably the easiest and fastest variant and costs the least time. The search field is also shown in the screenshot.
- Simply click in the search field "Search address list" and enter the company name. You will then see all the hits in the list.
- Note: The search bar is always in the menu bar at the top of the screen - regardless of whether you are in the e-mail inbox or in contacts.
The functions described here are only available from Office 2007. All previous versions do not let you search for a company, nor sort the entries by the company name.
