Outlook: No feedback - it could be because of that
If you no longer receive feedback from Outlook, the program has hung up. We will show you how you can eliminate potential problems with Outlook and get the mail client up and running again.
No feedback from Outlook: Deactivate add-ons
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "outlook / safe" here and confirm with "OK". Outlook then starts in safe mode.
- If the error no longer occurs, the cause is most likely an add-on.
- To solve the problem, click the "File" tab in the top left and select the "Options".
- Go to the "Add-Ins" category on the left and click the "Go To" button below.
- Deactivate all add-ons that you do not consider necessary. If you cannot judge the relevance of the add-ons, do not deactivate add-ons whose names begin with "Outlook" or "Microsoft".
- Save your changes with the "OK" button and then restart Outlook in normal mode.
Outlook hangs - that can help
- If the data file in Outlook is damaged, there may be various problems with the mail software. The "scanpst.exe" file helps you to repair the data file. You can find detailed instructions in the practical tip "Use Scan PST and repair Outlook files".
- Your anti-virus software can also cause the problem. Your anti-virus program wants to protect you more and more from the dangers in e-mails. Switch off your anti-virus software completely for a short time and check whether the error still occurs. Deactivating mail protection can eliminate the problem permanently.
- Repair: Open the Control Panel and select the "Uninstall a program" option under the "Programs" category. Look for the Office installation in the list and click on the "Change" button at the top. You can now repair Outlook here (see picture).
