Export Outlook contacts: how it works
If you switch from an older version of Outlook to a new one, you can export your contacts. Below you will find two instructions for the respective Office versions.
Outlook 2010 and 2013
- Start Outlook on your computer and click on "File" in the menu on the top left.
- Select the "Options" sub-item there.
- Click on "Advanced" on the left side.
- Under the heading "Export" you will find a button of the same name.
- Select the item "Export to file" from the list and click "Next".
- In the next list, select the item "Comma separated values (Windows)" and click on "Next".
- Now select the "Contacts" folder and click "Next" again.
- Select a file path in which the file should be saved, click on "Next" and then on "Finish".
Outlook 2003 and 2007
- Start Outlook on your computer.
- Click on "File" at the top right of the menu.
- There you select the sub-item "Import / Export".
- A new window opens in which you can find a list of storage types. Select "Export to file" here and click on "Next" (see picture).
- Now click on "Comma separated values (Windows)" and again on "Next".
- Select the "Contacts" folder here and click "Next" again.
- Define a file path in which the file should be saved and then click on "Next" and "Finish".
