Outlook: export rules
In Outlook you can not only create rules, but also export them. So you can easily transfer them to another PC and embed them in Outlook.
Export rules from Outlook as a file
- If you are on the "Start" tab in Outlook, you will see the "Rules" field in the menu bar at the top (see screenshot).
- Click on it and select "Manage rules and notifications ...". Then a new window opens in which you can find all of your Outlook rules.
- Go to "Options" and then to "Export rules".
- Select the location of the export file in the hard disk directory. The file type is also important: If you are using Outlook 2007 or newer, you can leave it on "Rule Assistant Rule". For older versions, simply select the compatible file type from the dropdown (see screenshot).
- Click on "Save" and then confirm with "OK". The rule file is then in the specified location.
- This practical tip shows how you can later import the rules back into an Outlook system.
