Repair Outlook: how to do it
If Microsoft Outlook is no longer working properly, you can often repair the program with just a few clicks. We show you step by step how to repair Outlook in this practical tip.
Repair Outlook - try Safe Mode
When you start Outlook, numerous plugins are also loaded. These can be responsible for possible crashes if they are out of date or do not function properly after an update.
- Therefore, start Outlook in safe mode first if the program does not work as usual.
- Call the "Run" tool with the key combination [Windows] + [R] and enter the command "outlook.exe / save" in the text field.
- If you confirm with the return key, the program is started in safe mode. Since no additional functions and settings are now loaded, you can examine the individual plugins.
- Sometimes shutting down and restarting your computer is enough. In many cases, problems disappear after a restart.
Repair Outlook with Control Panel
If you were unable to solve the problem in Safe Mode, you can repair Outlook in the Control Panel.
- To repair Outlook, you may have to close the app first. Open the Control Panel and navigate here under "Programs" to "Programs and Features".
- Here you can not only uninstall programs, but also repair them. To do this, select the Microsoft program Outlook and click on "Uninstall / Change".
- If you select "Change" in the next step, you have the choice between quick repair and online repair. The quick repair is faster and without an internet connection, but this variant is less secure.
- Therefore, if possible, choose online repair instead. To do this, your computer must be connected to the Internet. The software is then automatically repaired via this internet connection.
- After the repair has been completed, the program should run as usual and reliably.
If your mailbox is often full because you have to write a lot of mail for work or private reasons, Outlook can automatically sort your emails.
