OwnCloud sync with Thunderbird: calendar & contacts
With just a few clicks you can synchronize your OwnCloud contacts and calendars with Thunderbird. In this practical tip you will learn exactly how to do this.
Sync your OwnCloud calendar with Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird and switch to calendar view.
- Then click "New"> "Calendar" at the top and then "In the network".
- Select "CalDAV" as the format. Leave the "Address" field blank and switch to your OwnCloud calendar.
- Click on the paper clip next to the calendar name so that you can copy the link below.
- Paste this link into the "Address" field at Thunderbird and check the "Offline support" box.
- Finally, you can give the calendar a name. For "E-Mail" select "None".
- You finish the setup with "Finish". Then you have to "confirm the security exception rule".
- Then click "Sync" in the upper left corner of Thunderbird and then enter the login information for your OwnCloud calendar so that it can be synchronized with Thunderbird.
Sync OwnCloud contacts with Thunderbird
- First install the Sogo Connector Thunderbird extension.
- Now start Thunderbird and open your address book.
- Then click on "New"> "Remote"> "Address Book" above.
- You can give the address book any name under "Connection name".
- Leave the "URL" field blank and switch to your OwnCloud contacts.
- Below you will find a list of your address books. Click on the paper clip to copy the URL of the respective address book.
- Then paste this URL into Thunderbird. Save the changes with a click on "OK".
- After the initial setup, you must click on "Synchronize" in the top left corner so that the contacts are transferred.
