Packstation storage period: How long does DHL store my package?
If you have a Packstation, your DHL parcels will be deposited there for you. However, the period is not unlimited. You can find out how long your package will be stored in the packing station in this practical tip.
This is how long your package will be stored in your DHL packing station
As soon as a package reaches your Packstation, you will be informed by DHL. Depending on the agreement with the parcel service, you will be informed either via email or SMS as soon as a parcel is stored in your Packstation.
- If you haven't picked it up right away, DHL will remind you of your package again after two days. The next notice will be sent after seven days if you still haven't picked up the package by then.
- After a week, things will start to get tight for you. DHL generally stores the parcels for you in the Packstation for nine days. Although this is still significantly longer than in the post office, packages are only kept for you for seven days.
- The nine-day storage period begins as soon as DHL informs you that a package is in your Packstation. Holidays or weekends are included in the storage period.
- In general, nine days should be enough to collect a package from the packing station. Especially since the DHL Packstation is usually open for you around the clock.
- However, if you go on vacation, the nine days could be a bit tight, because you cannot extend the storage time for your package.
- After the time has expired, the parcel will be returned to the sender immediately.
- To avoid this, you should coordinate your online order accordingly or have someone pick it up. If your holiday overlaps with the arrival of a package or you have discovered a limited offer when shopping online, there is a second option: You can easily change the address of your Packstation online, even temporarily.
