This practical tip shows you how to change the background of an image in Paint.net and, for example, fill it with color or make it transparent.
How to change the background in Paint.net
- In Paint.net, open the image that you want to give a new background.
- Now select the "Eraser" in the "Tools" and erase the background. Leave only the object that should be in front of the new background.
- Alternatively, you can select the "Lasso" in the "Tools" and mark the background. If the background is of the same color, the background can also be selected with the "magic wand" and deleted with [Del].
- When you have erased the background, click on the "paint pot" in the "Tools". Now select a color that the new background should have.
- To recolor the background, simply click in the erased area of the image. If you want the area to remain transparent, save the file in PNG format.
- If small spots have not taken on the new color, zoom in a little and fill the background with color again.
