Paint.NET: Merge multiple images

Paint.NET lets you join multiple images in two ways. Either so that they overlap or that the images are lined up next to each other. We'll show you both ways.
1st variant: Overlay several images with Paint.NET
If you want to combine several images, you can stack them and reduce the opacity.
- Open the image you want to use as the lowest level in Paint.NET.
- The next pictures are dragged and dropped into Paint.NET. Click on "Add Layer".
- Now press [F4] on the second level and reduce the opacity with the controller.
- In this way you reduce the opacity of all layers above.
- Make sure, however, that you reduce the opacity of each image a little further so that you can still see the layer below.
2nd variant: Line up images side by side with Paint.NET
You can also collage your pictures side by side on a large level.
- Open any pictures you want to use in Paint.NET.
- In the "Image" tab, click on "Drawing area size ...".
- Now place your picture under "anchor" at your desired location on the canvas.
- For example, for four pictures, change the canvas size "Percentage" to 200%.
- Mark the other pictures with the "Rectangular Mask" and copy them.
- On the big screen, select "Edit" -> "Paste into new layer" and move the picture to the desired position.
- When you have placed all the pictures, you can save your picture. The levels are automatically merged.
