With Paint.NET you can have an object protrude from an image. Here we show you this 3D effect.
Step 1: Create a frame from the picture
Your object should protrude from the frame of the picture, you have to create this frame first. In the picture gallery you can recap the steps again using an example.
- Open your image and press F7 to open the layer window.
- Now "duplicate" your image and add an empty layer as the first layer.
- Click on the empty layer and create a black rectangle from your tool window ([F5]) at the point where the frame should be approximately.
- For the 3D effect of the frame, select "Layers" -> "Rotation zoom ...". Turn the rectangle so that it appears to be in the room.
- Now fill the rotated rectangle with the "paint bucket" so that a black block is created.
- Now select the "Magic Wand" tool and open the layer window.
- Hold down [CTRL]. Now mark the black block and click on the middle layer in the layer window - the duplicated background.
- Release the [CTRL] key and press [CTRL] + [i] to invert your selection. Then press [Delete].
- They now remain with the black block and the layer below, which has the shape of the block.
- Now move the second level up in the level window and hide the bottom level using the checkbox.
- Select the level of the black block. Mark the black block with the "magic wand". Drag it with "Toolbox" -> "Move selected pixels" so large that it forms a border for the image section.
- Now combine the two upper levels in the level window. They remain on the lower level with the frame and the actual picture.
Step 2: Let the object protrude from the frame
The finished frame now serves as the basis for the 3D effect.
- Slide the image over the frame in the Layers panel.
- Press [F4] and set the "Opacity" slider to 150.
- Now take the "Lasso" tool and roughly outline your desired object.
- Press [CTRL] + [i] again and then [Delete].
- Then use the "Eraser" tool to free the object from the rest of the edge.
- Now set the "opacity" back to 255 and join the layers together.
