Change the display name of the trash
To change the Recycle Bin name, you need to change a few files in your Mac's library. Be careful here, as an incorrect entry can have fatal consequences.
- Navigate in the Finder to the start hard drive of your Mac and go from there to the following subfolders System / Library / CoreServices
- Right click on the "Dock" file and select "Show Package Contents"
- Go further into the sub-folder "Contents / Resources / de.lproj"
- Open the "InfoPlist.strings" file with the "TextEdit" program.
- Replace the string "trash" with your desired name. When using umlauts, make sure that they have to be written ae, oe or ue.
- Then save and close the file.
