Paper-sparing printing - the best tips
Print paper-efficiently in the office and at home, save money and protect the environment. We show you the best tips for low paper consumption.
Print paper-saving: Print multiple pages on one sheet
Instead of just one page, you can print two, four, eight or even 16 pages on a DIN A4 page. This is particularly useful for control prints, such as PowerPoint presentations.
- Open the print menu in the program with which you opened or created the file. This is done via "File" - "Print" or with the key combination [Ctrl] + [P].
- Under "Customize page and options" click "Multiple" and select the desired number of pages. Right below you can choose between portrait and landscape format.
- In Microsoft Office, the print menu looks different: Scroll all the way down on the left. Here you will find a dropdown list in which you can select the desired number. A little further up you will find the options for landscape or vertical format.
Paper-saving printing: Print double-sided
If your printer is duplex, you can print double-sided. A distinction is made between manual duplex and automatic duplex. With manual duplexing, your printer first prints the odd pages, you twist the paper, reload it, and then print the even pages. With automatic duplex, your printer takes care of these tasks itself.
- Click "Printer Properties" in the print menu
- The following window differs depending on the printer model. Look for the "Duplex" or "Double-sided printing" option and set it as desired. The option is often found in the "Layout" tab. If the option is not found, the device does not support duplex printing.
- Confirm with "OK" and complete the print job.
- You should first print only two pages to see whether you have made the settings correctly.
- In Microsoft Office you do not have to go through the printer settings: In the print menu under "Settings" you can select "Print on both sides" or in the first drop-down list you can print the even and then the odd rows (see picture).
