Parallels Desktop on Mac: move files
If you have Parallels Desktop installed on your Mac, you can easily move files from the virtual machine with one tool. In this article, we explain how exactly it works.
Use Parallels Explorer: move files
Parallels Desktop also installs a useful tool on your Mac that allows you to move files around.
- Start the Finder in Mac OS X and switch to the programs.
- Here you search for the program "Parallels" and there the "Parallels Explorer". Simply drag it to the desktop for easier access to the program.
- Then start the "Parallels Explorer" with a double click.
- Click the Virtual Machines icon in the sidebar and select the virtual machine in which the corresponding file is saved.
- The list of volumes used by the virtual machine is now displayed. Go to the volume where the file is stored and navigate to the file you are looking for.
- In the Finder, open the folder in which the file is to be saved. Now simply drag the file from Parallels Explorer into the Finder.
- You can also move files from Mac OS X to the virtual machine in the same way.
