Passport photo with Photo Booth - is that possible?
You can also take passport photos with Photo Booth on your Mac. However, these do not meet the requirements for a driver's license, ID card or passport.
Passport photos with photo booth - what are they suitable for?
You can take self-portraits with Photo Booth. However, you should only use these for private purposes:
- The quality is not sufficient for an application picture, because your Mac's webcam does not have a high enough resolution. The right lighting also plays a role. As a rule, only a professional photographer can use them correctly.
- If you need a passport photo for your ID card, passport or driver's license, you cannot avoid visiting the photographer: this must be a special biometric image that you cannot take with your webcam.
- However, the program is sufficient for small gimmicks - such as taking a new profile picture for Facebook.
Take passport photos with Photo Booth - how it works
Photo Booth lets you take photos using your Mac's front camera. Useful functions such as screen flash are available:
- Start Spotlight with the key combination "cmd" + spacebar. The search term "Photo Booth" leads you directly to the program. Alternatively, you can also open the app using the launchpad.
- Align the camera. It should be level with your face. If the camera is below your face, it usually looks disadvantageous.
- Take photos with the red photo button or the enter button. Under the menu item "Camera" you can also select an external webcam or activate the screen flash.
- You can save captured photos with a right click and "Export" in the Finder.
- Tip: Switch to the raster symbol at the bottom left, Photo Booth takes four pictures in a row and creates a page with four photos. This format most closely corresponds to that of a passport photo. For example, you can print out the page and cut out the most beautiful image to continue using it.
