PayPal: cancel debit - is that possible?
In this practical tip, we clarify whether and under what circumstances you can cancel a PayPal debit and show you exactly what you have to do for it.
Under what circumstances can a PayPal debit be revoked?
Basically, you can only cancel the debit if there is a dispute. This is the case, for example, if you do not receive an item purchased on eBay, it is faulty or is a deception and the seller does not respond to your emails.
- If there is a problem with the purchased goods, you should contact the seller first. Perhaps there is just a misunderstanding that you can resolve quickly by email.
- So that your money is currently kept safe, you can notify PayPal of your conflict. The transaction flow is then stopped until the situation has been resolved. You can read how this works in the second paragraph.
Report conflict with PayPal
If you report a conflict to PayPal, your money is safe with PayPal until the dispute is resolved. The other side cannot withdraw the money. However, that doesn't mean you can get your money back safely. In the event of a dispute, both sides must make a statement about the problem. In an emergency, a PayPal employee will decide the problem.
- Log in to PayPal. Under "My account" you will find the sub-item "Conflict resolution".
- Then click "Report a problem". Please note that you have up to 45 days after the transfer.
- Then select that the problem is PayPal "Buyer Protection".
- Enter the transaction code that you can find in the PayPal activity overview and follow the instructions from PayPal.
