PayPal: Use credit card to pay - how it works
You can also pay for your PayPal payments by credit card. How to use PayPal Buyer Protection and pay with PayPal everywhere - the money will be debited from your credit card a few days later. We'll show you how to set this up at PayPal.
Use PayPal with credit card: Set up a new payment method
To be able to pay with PayPal by credit card, you must first deposit your credit card there. PayPal then charges your credit card with 1.50 euros (and reimburses this later). On the credit card statement you will find a code for the debit, which you must enter in PayPal to legitimize your credit card. Then you can pay with PayPal using the card. Here's how to add the credit card to PayPal:
- First open the website www.paypal.com and log in with your email address and password.
- Then click on "Bank accounts and credit card" in the menu on the left. In some cases you will even see "Add credit card and continue collecting bonus points".
- At the very bottom, click on the "Add credit card" button below "Credit cards".
- Now enter your card number, validity, check digits and your address and select the card type (for example VISA).
- Finally click on "Save".
Pay with PayPal by credit card
- If you now pay with PayPal, you will be directed to the PayPal website as usual during the payment process.
- There you can choose a bank account or your credit card.
- Select PayPal so that PayPal charges your credit card.
- Please note that your credit card provider may charge you for payments via PayPal. There are the normal fees, such as when paying by credit card in a German online shop.
- Tip: At the brand-independent credit card portal Cardscout you will find numerous free credit cards that do not charge any fees when paying with PayPal.
