PayPal: SMS code does not arrive - what to do?
Paypal has been offering 2-factor authentication via SMS for some time. If the message doesn't arrive, you have several options. We'll show you what you can do.
PayPal authentication: SMS does not arrive
With 2-factor authentication from PayPal, you not only have to enter your email address and password, but also a six-digit code that is sent to you by SMS. If no SMS arrives, you have to help a little:
- First try the "Resend SMS" option on the PayPal website. There may be delays or interference in your cellular network at the moment.
- If the SMS does not arrive after five minutes, the key is no longer valid. Be sure to wait for this period of time.
- Then press the "Log in without security key" button (see screenshot).
- Then select "I don't have my mobile phone or security key with me".
- You will then need to answer your two security questions. If the answers are correct, you will be redirected to your account.
If you no longer have your security questions ready, these instructions are not enough. We'll also show you what you can do if you forget your PayPal security questions.
