Perform remote PC maintenance with TeamViewer
In the following instructions, we demonstrate the procedure using the TeamViewer program. The CrossLoop program is available as an alternative.
- Download the free TeamViewer and start the installation file. Let the program either "Install" or just "Start".
- If you have now installed TeamViewer on both computers, you need the ID and password of the computer you want to access. This is shown in the start screen of the program (see picture).
- First enter the ID of the other PC in the field provided. If you then click on the "Connect to partner" button, a connection to the computer is established. You will then be asked to enter the password. Confirm with "Login" and allow access to the other computer. Remote maintenance then starts. The connection is secure and protected.
- A new window opens, which gives you full access to the other PC. You can control it as if it were your own. Your counterpart can follow everything and is still in control: the mouse can be used to counteract in an emergency and the transmission can be ended.
- Numerous functions are available at the top in the transmission window. These include calling up Task Manager and restarting the computer.
- In addition, an audio and video chat can be started via the program. This enables you to communicate better during remote maintenance and deal directly with problems and questions. The feature can also be found in the menu bar in the broadcast window.
- To end the transfer, you either have to close the transfer window or close the small status window of TeamViewer on the other computer. If you quit the program completely, neither ID nor password will be valid later. So you don't need to be afraid of later access to your system.
- Note: This is a full system access. Therefore, only allow people you trust to access your system. You may have to set some restrictions in the settings so that your computer cannot be shut down remotely, for example.
