PC hangs - what to do?
If your PC freezes up and stops responding, there can be several reasons. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
PC hangs up: Check hard disk for errors
- First open the command prompt as administrator.
- Enter the "chkdsk" command here and confirm with the Enter key.
- The next time Windows starts, the hard drive will be checked for errors. If problems are found, Windows eliminates them directly.

- Storage: Also check your hard drive storage. If there is no more memory available but Windows wants to save something to the hard drive, the system may freeze.
- Mainboard: Open your computer and check all plug connections. If a connection is loose, the error is found.
- Error log: If Windows detects the error itself, it is documented. Open the "System and Security" category in the Control Panel and select "Event Viewer" under "Administrative Tools". If there is a bug report, you can find it here.
